Andrei Kanchelskis
Andrei Kanchelskis, a Russian winger with a penchant for speed and goal-scoring, is best remembered for his time at Manchester United.
However, his journey in English football also took him to the blue half of Manchester.
Kanchelskis signed for Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk in 1991 and became an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team during the early 1990s.
His blistering pace and ability to deliver dangerous crosses from the right hand side made him a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
He was a key figure in United’s success helping the club secure the first ever Premier League title in the 1992-1993 season and then followed up with a league and cup double in the 1993-1994 season.
One of the most memorable moments in his time at United was when he scored a hat trick for The Red Devils against Manchester City in a 5-0 drubbing at Old Trafford in 1994.
The Russian winger left Old Trafford to move to Everton in 1995 but soon found himself back in Manchester when he joined Manchester City on loan from Glasgow Rangers in 2001, making 11 appearances for the club and scoring a goal in an FA Cup defeat to United’s other arch-rivals Liverpool.
Despite his more successful time being at United, Kanchelskis has gone on record to say that the clubs’ supporters regularly remind him he played 11 matches for their arch-rivals.
