5 things we learnt from United’s EPL opener against Wolves

It’s fair to say it wasn’t the easiest of opening matches, but what did we learn?

1. Renewed confidence between the sticks

New goalkeeper, André Onana, looked assured on his Old Trafford debut, usurping both David de Gea and Peter Schmeichel by keeping a clean sheet in his first league match.

The Cameroon international, who signed from Inter Milan in July, was an imposing presence, repeatedly claiming the ball in the air and making smart, close-range saves.

Onana’s confidence with the ball at his feet was also evident from early on with a high volume of successful passes coming out from the back.

A solid start to a new goalkeeping era.
