Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Tyrell Malacia’s recovery after the Dutch defender was included in the club’s Europa League squad.
Malacia has missed the entire 2023-24 Premier League season so far, following knee surgery in 2023.

The 25-year-old left-back has been sidelined for months as he continues his rehabilitation process.
Initially expected to return to action in January, Malacia’s recovery has faced further setbacks, delaying his comeback.
The Dutch international, who hasn’t played for Manchester United since May 2023, required a second surgery on his knee injury.
Tyrell Malacia expected return date
However, hopes are high that Malacia will feature for the Red Devils later this season.
After returning to training at Carrington in July, there is optimism that Malacia could be available for selection as early as October.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his exact return date, Ten Hag opted to include Malacia in his 25-man squad for Manchester United’s Europa League campaign.
Manchester United earned their place in the 2024-25 Europa League by beating Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May.

The Red Devils will kick off their European season on 25th September, facing Dutch side Twente at Old Trafford.
Notably, Twente is the club where Erik ten Hag previously played during his career.
Erik ten Hag provides exciting Tyrell Malacia injury update
In an interview with Manchester United’s official website, Erik ten Hag offered insights into Malacia’s progress and expressed optimism about the player’s return to full fitness.
“Of course, we want to motivate him to return, but it’s not so easy when you are so long away,” said Ten Hag.
“Over a season now from an injury to return, but he’s working very hard, he’s progressing really well in this moment.
“He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural.
“I expect also, soon, he can return [to] games then.”
With Malacia’s recovery ongoing, Manchester United fans will be eagerly awaiting his return to action as the Red Devils look to compete on multiple fronts this season.
