This weekend sees Manchester United face their first test of this year’s Premier League season as they take on Liverpool.

This challenge comes after United lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

Unfortunately for Erik ten Hag, this marked the sixth time an opposing team has scored a winning goal in extra time.

Joao Pedro’s winner extended the record already held by ten Hag of most winning goals conceded under one Manchester United manager since 1992.

United are hoping to shake this loss as they take on Arne Slot’s men who are entering match on back-to-back wins.

The last time these two teams played each other at Old Trafford was in the epic 4-3 FA Cup Quarter Finals when a last minute winner in extra time from Amad Diallo won the game for the home side.

Liverpool fans have been looking forward to gaining some revenge as the Merseyside team gear up to a return to Manchester this weekend.

However, the biggest news for Liverpool this week has been their recent signing of Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

Signed this week from Juventus in a bargain £10m deal, many Liverpool fans were hoping to see the Italian international make his debut at Old Trafford this week.

However, it seems that they’ll have to wait a little longer to see their new man in action.

When asked if Chiesa would be making his debut this weekend, Slot responded: “He’s going to train with us today but it’s a bigger chance that he is not in the squad for Sunday than he is.”

He added: “If injuries might come up in the upcoming two days we might need him, but I don’t expect him to be in but I cannot guarantee this.

“At the moment there are not any other injuries except for Curtis Jones and he will not train with us today.

“But the rest will train with us today.”

Unfortunately the same can’t be said about United.

The Red Devils have now added Mason Mount to their ever growing injury list that has already claimed Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.
