In the dying days of the transfer window we always see last minute deals taking place and clubs then reacting for replacements.
This week, seemingly out of nowhere, Chelsea have declared interest in Jadon Sancho, with United now very keen to sign Raheem Sterling. New sporting director Dan Ashworth is a keen fan of Sterling from their time together with the England national team.
However, elsewhere in Europe RB Leipzig are looking at a last minute transfer swoop for a long term United target.
RB Leipzig are now at risk of losing one of their key defenders, with Mohamed Simakan finding himself on the radar of Barcelona, Liverpool, Newcastle and Al-Nassr.

The 24-year-old has played a vital role across centre-back and right-back for last season’s campaigns which saw them win the DFL-Supercup and come fourth in the Bundesliga.
If the German club do part was with Simakan, they’ll be big shoes to fill, with not much time to fill them. The man who they feel is the best fit for the role is Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.
Silva has been on United’s radar since last November when Sky Germany announced that Silva was a top priority for The Red Devils. This summer, after completing the deal for Leny Yoro, Erik ten Hag was keen to sign another centre-back, leading the club to reignite interest in the Portuguese defender if a deal for Matthijs de Ligt could not be completed.
Ultimately de Ligt moved to Old Trafford, however Silva may find himself moving clubs after all.
Sports journalist Fabrice Hawkins has reported that negotiations have taken place between Leipzig and Benfica with Florian Plettenberg confirming that a bid has been submitted for a loan deal with obligation to buy.
It’s understood that the 20-year-old is keen for a move to Leipzig if the German club do sell Simakan.
