Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly ramping up their efforts to secure the services of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
After returning from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has seemingly mended his relationship with United manager Erik ten Hag following their fallout last season.
Upon Sancho’s return, Ten Hag addressed the situation, stating, “As we said, we draw the line. Manchester United need good players, and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.”
Despite his involvement in all three of United’s pre-season games in the United States, there remains uncertainty about whether Sancho will play a significant role in the upcoming season.
Earlier in the summer transfer window, PSG expressed their interest in Sancho, with discussions initially involving a potential swap deal that would see Manuel Ugarte move to Manchester United.
Last month, reports surfaced that PSG had made progress in their pursuit of Sancho, with personal terms allegedly agreed upon between the club and the player.
More recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggested that Sancho’s departure from Old Trafford remains a possibility late in the transfer window, although there is still a strong chance that he could stay with the club.
However, it now appears that the winger might be inching closer to an exit.
United ‘close to agreeing’ a deal with PSG
Football Insider has reported that PSG are closing to agreeing a deal with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho.
The report indicates that United are open to offloading him this summer, despite his reconciliation with Ten Hag.
According to sources cited in the article, talks between United and PSG are ongoing, and a deal is becoming increasingly likely to materialise before the end of the transfer window.
If Sancho does leave, United’s focus may shift towards signing another striker, especially in light of Rasmus Hojlund’s recent injury.
Hojlund’s injury could sideline the Danish forward for the first six weeks of the season, adding urgency to United’s search for reinforcements.
Sancho, who displayed tremendous potential during his tenure at Borussia Dortmund, has struggled to replicate that form at Manchester United.
Some may argue that the club would benefit from retaining him to enhance his market value, rather than selling him off prematurely this summer.
However, with an abundance of wingers in their squad, United might see the financial boost from Sancho’s sale as an opportunity to address more pressing needs, such as signing a backup striker or perhaps a central midfielder.
As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on PSG and Manchester United to see how this situation unfolds.
