Manchester United receive £500K windfall after player joins new club

Manchester United are all set to get a financial boost from one of their recent departures, even though he’s signed to new club as a free agent.

United are in the business of turning out some extremely impressive stars through their academy. This is something that Sir Jim Ratcliffe only wants to build further and turn Old Trafford into the the best place for developing young talents in world football.

With players like Chido Obi-Martin now signing for the academy and Samuel Lusale agreeing terms with the club, United are only strengthening their development squad.

However, now United are set to be benefitting from one of their former graduates who recently left the club.

How United are set to benefit from Shola Shoretire

After nine years at United, the impressive young midfielder, Shola Shoretire decided to leave the club to pursue his career elsewhere.

Although the Red Devils offered the 20-year-old a new contract, Shoretire felt he was better off elsewhere and has signed to Greek champions PAOK.

Manchester World have reported that despite Shoretire signing to PAOK as a free transfer, United are still set to benefit from his signing, but how?

Well, as the youngster has been in the United academy for so long, nearly a decade, the Premier League club are entitled to a compensation fee for their role in developing the attacking midfielder.

Although not much, the Red Devils are entitled and set to receive £500,000 rom he Greek club for the 20-year-old’s development.

Shoretire’s goodbye to United

After confirming his four-year contract with PAOK, Shoretire posted a goodbye to his former club.

Taking to social media, the midfielder said: “I joined Manchester United as an 11 year old boy with a dream of one day playing in the first team. I feel extremely proud to be able to say I have achieved that dream. To make it even more special, I was given the opportunity to represent this club in the Premier League and in Europe.”

He added: “I’ll forever be grateful to the many players, staff members and supporters that have played a massive part in my journey to this point. From the first day I arrived at the Cliff training ground I have felt at home and part of the MUFC family.

“It’s been a tough decision for me to leave somewhere that’s been all I’ve known for half of my life but I believe this is the right step for me. Once a red…Thank you Manchester United.”
