Manchester United look set to miss out on another one of their midfield targets this summer, with Desire Doue set to join another top European club.
Earlier this week it was announced that United are close to missing out on midfield target Youssouf Fofana to AC Milan. The Italian club have offered Monaco €14 million plus add-ons for the 25-year-old. It’s also been reported that Fofana has already agreed personal terms to see him join Milan on a four year contract.
Now, with United heavily focusing on their Manual Ugarte deal, the Red Devils may be set to miss out on another young star.
French Wonderkid Desire Doue
Back in May, Academy Scoop on X revealed that United had begun conversations with Doue’s representatives about a move to Old Trafford.
The star has come through the Stade Rennais academy and is starting to become a key player in the senior squad. Doue is extremely adaptable, being able to play on both wings as well as in centre midfield, a strength that Rennais have relied on this season.
At the time it was known that PSG and Arsenal were also interested, however it’s a new club that have made the strongest move to sign the young star.
Bayern Munich’s interest in Doue
Reports from L’Équipe and RMC Sport have announced that Bayern Munich have revised their initial offer for the 19-year-old. Stade Rennais rejected the club’s first offer as being unsuitable at €35 million (£29.4 million). The Ligue 1 side are reportedly holding out for a figure closer to €60 million (£50.4 million).
The Bundesliga club have offered Rennais £46.38 million plus bonuses with a number of top clubs still circling the winger.
It’s unclear as of yet whether United are still interested in Doue and plan to make a swoop for him before a deal is done.
