Former Manchester United star buys football club

Another former Manchester United star has just ventured into the world of football ownership.

It used to be the case that football players would either go into management, coaching or punditry when they got close to the end of their careers.

The tradition route for players was to stay in the beautiful game through one of those three routes.

However, many footballers have know ventured into ownership positions.

Due to the vast amounts of money top players make in the modern game, players are increasing likely to be in the boardroom than the training pitch.

Brazilian legendary striker Ronaldo famously owns Cruzeiro in his home country and Real Valladolid in Spain.

Even former Manchester United stars have dabbled in club ownership.

Former United and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique owns FC Andorra in Spain.

And, of course, the most famous example in world football is England and United legend David Beckham who co-owns Inter Miami CF.

Another former Manchester United star has just ventured into the world of football ownership.

SU Sintrense get new owners

Nani, who won four English Premier League titles while at Old Trafford, has just brought a club near his hometown.

According to The Sun, the 37-year-old has bought a 95% stake in fourth division side SU Sintrense together with a group of investors.

The club currently play in the Campeonato de Portugal.

Nani and the investors are hoping to pump some serious money into the club and get them promoted to the Primeira Liga.

SU Sintrense are based in Sintra, north-west of Lisbon and close to the birthplace of Nani – Amadora.

This is Nani’s first move since his most recent contract expired. The winger was playing for Adana Demirspor in the Turkiye Super Lig last campaign when he helped the team to finish fourth and secure a Europa Conference League spot.

He was released from his contract earlier this summer.

With his new investment, it seems that Nani will continue to be involved in the game of football one way or another.
