Manchester United are continuing their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, as reported by Sky Sports via GiveMeSport.

This interest persists despite strong links to Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Guehi’s standout performance for England at Euro 2024, where he started six out of seven games and helped the team reach the final, has made him a sought-after player.

Additionally, his successful season at Selhurst Park, with 29 appearances for Crystal Palace in 2023/24, has sparked interest from several top clubs.

England manager Gareth Southgate praised Guehi, saying, “He’s been exceptional.

“We obviously lose him now for the next game, but he’s a young defender that we’ve had enormous belief in and he’s justified that with his performances in this tournament,” as quoted by the Metro.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also reportedly interested in the 24-year-old centre-back. But Sky Sports indicates that Manchester United remain one of the leading contenders for his signature.

Despite signing Yoro and being on the verge of signing De Ligt, United could still move for Guehi.

Crystal Palace are open to transferring Guehi, with two years left on his contract, for around £65 million.

Guehi, a Chelsea academy product, is keen to join a team competing in European competitions.

Negotiations for De Ligt have stalled after the Dutch defender agreed to personal terms, primarily because United has completed the signing of Leny Yoro from Lille.

Reports suggest that United will only pursue De Ligt or Jarrad Branthwaite if they manage to offload both Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Should these sales materialise, the need to sign Guehi would significantly diminish.

However, INEOS, United’s co-owners, are reportedly keen on strengthening the team’s defensive lineup, indicating that Guehi could still be a viable option.

The aim is to revamp the centre-back unit this summer, enhancing the team’s overall defensive stability.

This summer transfer window has already seen INEOS making significant moves, securing two key players early on for reasonable prices. The strategic focus on reinforcing the defense underlines United’s intent to build a robust squad capable of competing at the highest levels.
