Last month, former United Manager Jose Mourinho was unveiled as Fenerbahce’s new man in charge.

The Special One has been brought in to support Fenerbahce to win the Super Lig, having not been crown Turkish Champions since the 2013/14 season, also only having won the Turkiye Kupasi (Turkish Cup) once in this dry spell.

Last season the Turkish club came close to securing the league title, finishing second only thre points behind Galatasaray. Whilst Fenerbahce are usually second place in the league over the last few years, last season was the closest points margin they’ve had to the top spot in some time.

Now, Mourinho is hoping to use his star power to influence so key transfers in and out of the club.

Over the last few weeks, United have increased their interest in left-back Ferdi Kadioglu after his impressive performances at Euro 2024.

Whilst it was initially believed that Mourinho would attempt to block the transfer, a €35 million price tag has been put on the player’s services, suggesting that the club are indeed happy to part ways with the Turkish star.

Now, Turkish outlet Sabah have reported that United have in fact made an initial bid of £21 million (€25 million), however this has not been deemed enough to accept by the Turkish club, with Jose Mourinho now looking at a counter offer if the €35 million isn’t matched.

The report explains that Mourinho has set his sights on United winger Jadon Sancho and is looking at lining up a swap deal, Sancho for Kadioglu.

Whilst Sancho returned to training this week for the preseason and was surprisingly involved in the team training amid speculation he’d be leaving the Red Devils after his very public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, the pair have supposedly put the past behind them.

That said, Sancho’s name still features in the list of seven United players that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth want rid of this summer in order to generate more transfer funds.

Elsewhere, Juventus are still reported as interested in signing Sancho, however are just waiting on some sales to go through in order to generate the funds to sign the 24-year-old.

With the aim of selling Sancho indeed being to generate funds, it’s unsure at this time whether United would consider a player-swap deal for the young winger.
