Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell as they seek to bolster their defensive options, according to Sami Mokbel from the Daily Mail.

Chilwell, who has struggled with injuries since his £50m transfer from Leicester City, is looking to make a strong comeback, having returned early to pre-season training.

The need for a reliable left-back is pressing for United, as both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the current options, have been plagued by frequent injuries.

Chilwell’s situation at Chelsea saw Marc Cucurella stepping up in his absence, performing commendably in recent months.

Under the guidance of manager Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea, Chilwell was allowed more freedom on the field, contributing significantly in the midfield areas as well.

His potential addition to United could follow another high-profile transfer from last summer, where Mason Mount moved from Chelsea to Old Trafford.

Despite a challenging first season, Mount is expected to be a key player for United moving forward.

The interest from Erik ten Hag’s side indicates a strategic approach to strengthening the squad, possibly adding another Chelsea player to their ranks in the upcoming season.
