With the difficult start Ruben Amorim’s men have had to the 25/26 season, the fixtures don’t get any easier with Club World Cup Champions Chelsea travelling to Old Trafford on Saturday to play Manchester United in the 5:30 kick-off.
Though performances were decent vs Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley, the Red Devils were fairly beaten by Manchester City.
Though it doesn’t feel like United have been terrible comparatively to last season, they only have four points from four games and were embarrassingly dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town in the second round.
The fixture against Chelsea is a crucial one with only three games left before the international break, the pressure on Amorim to produce couldn’t be higher.
Chelsea have a large, constantly rotating squad. The Blues sign a lot of players, such as Alejandro Garnacho who joined this summer from Manchester United, but also offload quite a bit, making it hard to keep track of.
One of the bright sparks for Chelsea so far this season is set to return for the clash at Old Trafford with Estevao Willian returning from illness.
As confirmed by the line-ups on Chelsea’s website for their match vs Bayern Munich, Esteavao was on the bench and got 10 minutes at the end of the match after coming on for Enzo Fernandez.
Estevao has been something of a revelation for Chelsea as he helped thrash Graham Potter’s West Ham side 5-1 picking up an assist in the process.
With Enzo Maresca having lots of options at his disposal, the Italian manager could opt to go for Reece James in midfield again meaning he would have the option to push Enzo Fernandez up or use Estevao as an attacker with three others.
Estevao went away on international duty and fell ill which was why he wasn’t in the team to face Brentford.
But, ahead of the fixture on Sunday he is back and ready for selection offering Chelsea another option in attack.
