Manchester United have already seen a massive change in their goalkeeping department this summer, with the signing of Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens.

The 23-year-old joined the Red Devils after concerns grew regarding Andra Onana, with the Cameroon international being dropped from the Premier League starting line-ups, only featuring in their Carabao Cup loss to Grimbsy Town.

United’s elimination from the cup seemingly started a chain of events which saw Lammens arrive at Old Trafford as a deadline-day signing, pushing the club to loan out Andre Onana to Trabzonspor, where he’ll see out the rest of the season.

As such Lammens is now set to battle with Altay Bayindir for the first-choice keeper slot at Old Trafford for this season to establish themselves going forward. However The Red Devils now have another talented shot-stopper on their radar.

The Daily Mail has reported that United are now looking to 14-year-old Birmingham City goalkeeper Alfie Smith.

Birmingham’s impressive young shot-stoopper is reportedly getting significant interest from the Premier League after he became the second youngest ever keeper to appear in the Under-18s Premier League, helping his side beat Fulham 4-3.

It’s understood that Birmingham City are keen to retain their young star, wanting to convince him to remain at St Andrew’s for the forseeable future as his best pathway into professional football.
