Manchester United have built up a strong reputation for developing young talent into being top players in the world of football, with several former academy graduates shining around Europe.
This summer saw Manchester United sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for a record £40 million as the club’s top sale for an academy star.
Alongside him, Marcus Rashford has gone on loan to Barcelona ahead of a potential permanent move for £30 million next summer.
Away from Old Trafford, Anthony Elanga made a major move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United, whilst Mason Greenwood is continuing to excel at Marseille after his permanent move last summer.
However, one former Red Devils is currently experiencing a major injury setback, undergoing surgery for his recovery.
Omari Forson came through the Manchester United academy, graduating in 2022, joining the Under-21s, however after only seven appearances for the senior side, he was released last summer, joining Italian side AC Monzaon a free trasnfer.
However, his debut season with his new side was cut short as injury struck in May 2025, with the 21-year-old still yet to return to the pitch.
Taking to their official website, AC Monza announced: “The arthroscopic right knee surgery for a meniscal injury undertaken by Omari Forson has been successfully completed.”
They also added: “The operation was performed at CUF Porto Clinic in Portugal.”
The surgery marks a massive step in Forson’s recovery, however this does mean that Monza fans may have to wait some time for him to fully return to the pitch.
