Manchester United are entering a defining period of the season, with Ruben Amorim’s side juggling the intensity of their domestic fixtures.

The Reds are preparing for a crucial weekend clash against Chelsea that could shape Ruben Amorim’s future at the club.

The focus remains on bettering results as United look to bounce back after a poor start to the season.

With big games looming, fitness updates across the club have become more important than ever, both for the men’s and the women’s teams.

It was from United themselves that a major injury update arrived on Wednesday, this time from the women’s side of the club.

Head coach Marc Skinner has delivered encouraging news regarding defender Millie Turner after fears over a serious setback at the weekend.

Millie Turner had to be stretchered off during the second half of Sunday’s emphatic 5-1 victory over London City Lionesses in the WSL, sparking immediate concern about the extent of the damage.

Thankfully, Skinner has now confirmed, via the clubs website, that the 29-year-old’s injury is not as severe as first thought.

“It’s a knee injury,” the head coach confirmed.

“It’s not an ACL, it’s not an LCL, or an MCL, so we’re just looking at the knee cap.

“But it’s not what people probably feared.”

The boss explained that Turner is still undergoing assessments to determine the exact nature of the problem.

“She has another meeting at the end of this week when it settles down,” Skinner continued.

“Then we’ll know more, so I can update you properly next week.

“Once we’ve had this second opinion, we’ll discuss [it].”

While Turner is still unlikely to feature in Thursday’s decisive UEFA Champions League third round qualifier second leg against Brann at Leigh Sports Village, the relief that her setback is not more serious will be welcomed by everyone connected to the club.

Skinner added that apart from Turner, there are no other fresh injury concerns ahead of the 19:00 BST kick-off as United aim to overturn Ingrid Stenevik’s single-goal advantage from the first leg in Norway.
