Manchester United are once more in a position of having to consider parting ways with their manager, as the situation surrounding Ruben Amorim and his leadership at Old Trafford is failing to deliver results.

Only a year on from United’s last sacking, when Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, The Red Devils are still struggling to deliver results, having their worst Premier League start on record off the back of their worst Premier League finish on record.

Last season The Red Devils ended their Premier League campaign in 15th and are currently sat in 14th after only getting four points in four games after a narrow 3-2 win over Burnley and a 1-1 draw to Fulham.

However, the Manchester United hierarchy are reportedly still backing Ruben Amorim, seeing overall improvements despite the poor results.

It’s recently been revealed that they are continuing to firmly back him at the moment; however, they may have to assess the situation during the October international break after United have played Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland.

Unfortunately, this is a situation all too familiar to Manchester United fans, who saw the exact same thing with Erik ten Hag last season, the United hierarchy firmly standing by him at the start of the season, only to fire him in the October international break, seeing Amorim arrive on 1st November.

As such, The Daily Mail has now revealed that should United make the decision to part ways with Amorim in October, they’d be liable for a £12 million severance payment for releasing him from his £6.5 million per season contract, which was set to see him stay at Old Trafford for another year and a half.

The Red Devils have already paid out £9.2 million on the manager, the sum of the fee given to Sporting CP as compensation for buying him out of his contract in the Portuguese capital mid-season.

Now, United will be hoping that Amorim can start getting results out of his squad to avoid replacing yet another manager.
