Manchester United’s season is moving into a critical phase with Ruben Amorim determined to steer his squad back into the Premier League’s top half.

The Reds have a busy schedule ahead, with crucial domestic fixtures that could define the first half of the campaign.

United will be hoping their injury list starts to clear, so they can offer Amorim more options as the team targets a strong run heading into the festive period.

Off the pitch, club officials continue to plan for the January transfer window, with recruitment chiefs monitoring several potential additions to strengthen key areas.

Amid this flurry of activity, three of United’s brightest prospects have received a huge personal boost on the continental stage.

The annual Golden Boy award, which celebrates the best young talent in European football, has unveiled its latest top-100 ranking — and three names from Old Trafford are firmly in the spotlight.

As per the European Golden Boy Award website, Ayden Heaven, Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have all been included in the prestigious list, which recognises the finest players born on or after 1 January 2005.

The award, launched by Italian outlet Tuttosport in 2003, uses a detailed Benchmark Index to rank Europe’s most exciting youngsters by metrics such as sporting performance, playing time and the strength of their club.

Yoro, who started in Sunday’s Manchester derby defeat to City, is the highest-placed Red at joint-13th overall, ahead of Kobbie Mainoo, who wanted to leave United, in 36th and Heaven in 89th.

When focusing purely on Premier League performers, the French centre-back climbs to joint-fourth, behind only Arsenal pair Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri and Chelsea’s recent recruit Jorrel Hato.

Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, last year’s winner, leads the 2025 race ahead of PSG’s Desire Doue, Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi and Real Madrid centre-back Dejan Huijsen.

Yamal is chasing history as the first youngster to win the prize twice, a feat that would also continue Barcelona’s dominance of the Golden Boy award.

Current Red Matthijs de Ligt remains the only defender to have lifted the trophy, doing so with Ajax in 2018 — a reminder of the elite company United’s young trio are now keeping.
