It’s fair to say that after Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, all eyes are on Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager has once more backed his system, feeling that the main problem is the squad’s mindset, even going so far as to say he won’t be changing his system and that if United want a different system, they need a different manager.
However, the United hierarchy has expressed their desire to stand by Ruben Amorim, seeing the former Sporting CP boss as a long-term solution who needs to be given a decent amount of time for his plans to yield results.
Whilst United seemingly have no plans to dismiss Amorim, he could have a potential escape route at his disposal, with Benfica considering the manager as the right man to lead the club if Joao Noronha Lopes becomes club president next month.
In the meantime, however, Amorim is coming under scrutiny over his stubbornness to give up on or even tweak his system, with many believing it could be his downfall at Old Trafford.
However, in an interesting and hilarious twist of events, Manchester United fans think they may have attended an unofficial press conference with Ruben Amorim on the social media platform X.
This evening, @htomufc, or “h”, hosted a two-hour Spaces call, titled “United Crisis Meeting”, with 80,000 listeners, with the focus being on why Ruben Amorim should still be backed, to give the fans some hope going forward.
Enter @4075mm, or “ish”, who lit up the call, with fans suspecting it was Amroim himself.
Over the course of time, sounding nearly identical to the United boss himself, “ish” discussed topics such as the signing of Benjamin Sesko, labelling it as “not the smartest purchase”, with the conversations explaining that Amorim wanted Ollie Watkins due to the risk of another young, unproven striker coming in and struggling like Rasmus Hojlund did.
As the call came to an end, “h” thanked “ish” for his insights and for giving a strong counterargument for backing Amorim, with the mystery account saying, “the moment I stop believing is when Amorim stops believing”.
This response alone was met with the host laughing, commenting: “There’s no way you’re not him man, honestly, I’m telling you right now man, this is him” to which the accound responded “I wish I was as sexy as him”.
The “crisis meeting” has had X explode with United fans sure that they’d just listened to Amorim himself, with some commenting: “this ain’t even a space, this is a press conference with Ruben Amorim”, “This is literally Ruben on a burner account”, and “Man is trying to save his job”.
Needless to say, it’s highly unlikely that this was Amorim himself; however, it’s certainly got Manchester United fans thinking.
This is literally Ruben on a burner account 😂😂😂😂. His opinion on Mainoo bro it’s literally what Amorim said
