The conjecture and pressure around Manchester United is insurmountable.
Typified by the new ‘ruthless’ nature of INEOS giving players less time to prove their good enough for Manchester United, showcased by letting Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana leave.
The new regime despite suffering some early setbacks and enduring a disastrous start both with Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim are clearly hellbent on right the wrongs of the past and care about making the club great again.
Largely though, in order to make the club successful again, INEOS will have to learn from the past which has been one of the most difficult things to do as new manager after new manager has to build new team after new team whilst not liking players that were signed before they took the job over.
One such player not signed during Ruben Amorim’s reign in Manuel Ugarte has been slammed by ESPN brutally, with a pundit referring to him as a ‘wet blanket’.
According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, the Uruguay International was slammed by ESPN pundit Craig Burley who questioned whether he was good enough to play for The Red Devils.
Ugarte joined from PSG for a hefty £50 Million and has not yet shown much to demonstrate he was worth the hefty amount. The deal was conducted by now ex-Manchester United football director Dan Ashworth.
Ugarte played under Amorim at Sporting CP and has had minutes this season vs Arsenal, Fulham and the poor defeat vs Grimsby Town.
Speaking on ESPN, Burley pulled no punches: ‘Manuel Ugarte is just absolutely nothing. He’s just like a wet blanket. Put him in with the kids and even the kids would be going, ‘Who the hell is this guy?’ Seriously.’
Burley is a forthright pundit who has never held back his opinion. Though the criticism is a tad harsh, Ugarte is still yet to show his best in a United shirt.
