Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has experienced a significant drop in his net worth since taking charge of Manchester United.
The INEOS owner took charge of The Red Devils at the start of 2024, having acquired a 27.7% stake of the club controlling football operations for ($1.5 billion).
Since then, the 72-year-old has been making it his mission to save Manchester United, implementing a series of measures to ensure the financial sustainability of the club.
Ratcliffe has done so by trying to limit the club’s expenditure by scrutinising the operational costs of The Red Devils as well as making 450 redundancies.
The INEOS owner has also looked at ways for the club to boost profit, exploring he potential of VIP hospitality zones around the dugout, similar to what Barcelona have done at Camp Nou, as well as introducing more tour participation such as their post-season tour of Asia at the start of the summer.
However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has now taken a major financial hit, as Manchester Evening News has reported that his net worth has plummeted.
Before taking over control at Old Trafford, Ratcliffe boasted an impressive £16.92 billion ($22.9 billion) net worth, however dropped to £12.19 billion ($16.5 billion) after a year with United according to Forbes.
Unfortunately the downward trend has continued as the INEOS owner’s net worth has dropped by a further £370 million ($500 million) since the end of 2024.
However, this may not be directly linked to his ownership of Manchester United, with INEOS having pulled out of major partnerships with New Zealand Rugby and the Britannia America’s Cup sailing team.
Elsewhere INEOS also held a major deal with Tottenham Hotspur, advertising their Grenadier as the sponsor 4×4 of the club.
With the organisation pulling away from some of their major deals, with INEOS blaming the “deindustrialisation of Europe”, it’s understand able that Ratcliffe’s net worth has taken a hit.
