Manchester United are preparing for the Premier League to restart this weekend as the side are set for their first Manchester Derby of the season as The Red Devils head to the Etihad on Saturday 14th September.

For the last two weeks the leagues have been paused whilst the world’s top talent have been on display in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

United, as with any top club, have seen several members of their first team report for international duty, with Matthijs de Ligt representing the Netherlands, Bruno Fernandes playing for Portugal, Patrick Dorgu for Denmark, Benjamin Sesko for Slovenia, Altay Bayindir representing Turkey, Manuel Ugarte for Uruguay and Casemiro for Brazil.

However, The Daily Mail has now reported that the veteran midfielder has returned to Carrington to rejoin his Manchester United teammates earlier than planned.

The Brazil international thankfully hasn’t returned to Carrington through injury, but instead due to poor discipline on the pitch.

In Brazil’s penultimate qualifier against Chile, Casemiro was seen stamping on Chile midfielder Felipe Loyola, being handed a yellow card for the offence.

Whilst the midfielder did avoid a red card for the altercation, his previous collection of yellow cards meant he has still been suspended from the side’s final game against Bolivia.

As such, rather than remaining with the Brazil national team, unable to play, Casemiro has returned to Manchester to get back into preparations with Ruben Amorim and his teammates.

Whilst Casemiro’s return is a welcome surprise to Amorim, still being able to use him in the Premier League, some Red Devils have had setbacks this international break, seeing them also return to Carrington early.

Diogo Dalot had to return at the start of the international break after picking up and injury with Portugal, whilst Matheus Cunha was unable to travel in the first place after being called up and then suffering an injury.
