One player that has seemingly gone under the radar this season with his good form is Casemiro.

The veteran Brazilian midfielder was magnificent in 22-23 under Erik ten Hag and was forced to play a lot of minutes whilst the squad dealt with injury after injury in 23-24.

Perhaps the slower tempo of teams in the Europa League helped Casemiro find his footing again, as he is moving less and helping to break up attacks more.

This return to form will have Manchester United thinking about what to do with the former Real Madrid midfielder when his contract expires in 2026.

According to an article in Sport Witness, journalist Jorge Nicola has reported that Brazilian sides Flamengo and Palmeiras are keeping tabs on the situation.

The 33 year old midfielder will be a free agent after the World Cup in North America.

Nicola went on to explain that it is ‘practically impossible’ to see the midfielder leaving before the end of his current deal given his current high salary of earning £375,000 per week.

The consensus is that this will be his final season in England before a move back to South America.

Flamengo and Palmeiras are both said to be interested, but Sao Paulo could also play an important role in his next move.

The midfielder has never hid away from praising the club that developed him before his emergence at Real Madrid.

Nicola also pointed out that there could be interest from Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr possibly able to match his huge wages at Old Trafford.

The two Saudi clubs would likely usurp whatever the Brazilians clubs could do financially, but it’s possible with what he has earned in his career and the stage he is at that he could return home to Brazil.

For the moment, Casemiro is enjoying something of a renaissance in what is likely to be his final season for the club.

Whether it’s a move back to his native Brazil or a a big money move to Saudi Arabia, freeing up his wages would mean increasing the hunt for likely another midfielder.
