Kobbie Mainoo had looked to be possibly on his way out this summer following him breaking into the first-team in 2022.

The midfielder, who graduated from the Manchester United academy, is one of many names to graduate from the first-class academy.

Furthermore, he joins names such as Alejandro Garnacho and Amad in graduating from the academy.

Since breaking into the first team, he has made 74 appearances and has scored seven times.

But, this summer, it looked like the Englishman was heading towards the exit with the 20-year-old putting in a loan request to the Red Devils’ hierarchy.

However, this was a request that was rejected from United prolonging Mainoo’s stay at Old Trafford.

But, following this transfer saga, the midfielder shared a picture on Instagram from the movie Whiplash which is a movie about a rising star that can never seem to satisfy their mentor or coach.

Manchester United fan-page the United Stand then created an Instagram post with a caption questioning whether Mainoo’s post on Instagram was a cause for concern or a coincidence that has been blown out of proportion given recent events.

Now, the 20-year-old has responded to this post.

Commenting under the post, Kobbie Mainoo said that the post was a ‘stretch’.

With this response posted, the Englishman is arguably suggesting that the post made by the United Stand goes too far.

Furthermore, through this comment, the midfielder can be said to be criticising this post and its content.

But, with this criticism now commented, attention may turn towards the potential of the 20-year-old being involved in next week’s Manchester derby.

If he was to feature, he may feature in both a central midfielder role – one taken by a player like Casemiro – or an attacking midfield role – one taken by Bruno Fernandes.
