Celtic beat Manchester United with dramatic comeback

Celtic beat Manchester United in a match with a dramatic comeback in the match towards the end of proceedings.

Celtic and Manchester United met today in a match which aimed to raise money for Celtic’s Foundation.

The match takes place following the first game of this tie at Old Trafford last year where money was raised for Manchester United’s Foundation.

Over 22,000 fans were in attendance for this year’s match creating a great spectacle for everyone related to the United foundation and helping to demonstrate the good work that the Foundation does for the community and others in Manchester.

This year’s edition of the match saw the Red Devils line-up as follows:

  • Mikael Silvestre,
  • Tyler Blackett,
  • Danny Pugh,
  • Eric Djemba-Djemba,
  • Michael Carrick (c),
  • Darren Fletcher,
  • Nani,
  • Louis Saha,
  • Dimitar Berbatov.

In the game, Manchester United were able to take a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Darren Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov seeing United go into half-time 2-0 up.

Fletcher had been appointed as Manchester United’s Under-18s manager over the course of the summer with his appointment exclusively revealed by CentreDevils.

In the second half, United were said to looking good to see the game out according to Manchester United’s official match report.

But, substitutions for both sides were said to change the game.

With the game entering its closing stages, Celtic were able to half the deficit through Scott McDonald.

Then, with just over ten minutes remaining, Shaun Maloney levelled proceedings up taking the game to penalties.

In the penalty shoot-out, Celtic were able to win 4-3 meaning that Celtic won the game.

With the game now concluded, attention will turn towards the positive work of both sides in raising money for both clubs’ Foundations.

Furthermore, attention will most likely turn towards the players’ job roles in the normal world following their retirements from football.
