Manchester United appear set to offload former first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana after Senne Lammens has joined the club.

The Belgian keeper moved to Old Trafford on deadline day from Royal Antwerp as a solution to Ruben Amorim’s goalkeeping problems experienced last season and already continuing only four games into the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Onana’s problematic and questionable decisions in goal have resulted in a significant number of goals conceded, with his appalling display against Grimsby Town seemingly being the nail in the coffin, ending his time with United.

Unfortunately Onana’s pre-season training was impacted by his hamstring injury, picked up in the first week of training, seeing Altay Bayindir step up to cover his role.

However, the 29-year-old’s last two seasons have been off the pace from what would be expected of a first-choice keeper at Old Trafford and as such, he is yet to play a minute of Premier League football this season, seemingly setting Bayindir or Lammens up to fight for the top spot.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United have come to a verbal agreement with Turkish side Trabzonspor to take the Cameroon international on loan for the rest of the season.

It’s understood that the decision on joining the Super Lig side now sits with Andre Onana himself, with it unknown at this time how he feels about leaving The Red Devils, even on a temporary basis.

This move from United seemingly shows that despite Amorim looking to back Onana throughout the pre-season, the tides have now changed, especially with the club’s rush to sign Lammens on deadline day.
