Manchester United’s goalkeeper department has been struggling for the last two seasons, with Andre Onana taking the role of first-choice keeper after his arrival from Inter Milan in 2023.
As his deputy, Altay Bayindir has been United’s back-up keeper for the same time period, arriving from Fenerbahce, seeing a complete overhaul of their goalkeepers under Erik ten Hag.
Now, Ruben Amorim has signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, with the 23-year-old keen to take the first-choice goalkeeper role from Onana after back-to-back struggling seasons, and the Cameroon international is yet to play a Premier League game this season.
However, it’s another one of United’s goalkeepers who has now been praised for his performances, as Radek Vitek has officially won Bristol City’s Player of the Month award for August 2025.
The 21-year-old secured his Championship loan with Bristol City after a season-long loan with Austrian side Blau Weiss Linz last season, grabbing seven clean sheets in 28 games.
So far for Bristol, Radek Vitek has helped them for their unbeaten Championship run of two wins and two draws, keeping a clean sheet against Charlton Athletic and only conceding four goals so far.
Acknowledging the award, Vitek reposted the X post, commenting: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me, I really appreciate it. Let’s keep the momentum going after international break.”
Upon their return from the international break, Bristol City will be taking on Sheffield Wednesday away, followed by hosting Oxford United at home, hoping to continue pushing up the table from their current place in sixth.
At the end of the season, Vitek will be bringing his valuable experience of senior English football back to Old Trafford, with the goalkeeper held in high regard by The Red Devils.
