With the Women’s Super League kicking off on Sunday, Manchester United Womens will play Leicester City Womens.
There have already been notable incomings and outgoings for Marc Skinner’s side in the summer with Swedish duo Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfo joining from Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively.
United finished 3rd last season and were the runners up in the FA Cup as they look to improve the 24-25 campaign.
One of the prominent members of the team last season in Grace Clinton who scored eight goals in the league and once in the FA Cup confirmed her exit from the club today on Instagram.
As Clinton leaves Old Trafford the midfielder had her say on the social media post
“Me and the club have taken the decision to part ways over the past few days.’
“This has been a very difficult decision for me because of the love I have for my team-mates and for you, the fans. However, I feel the future of the club and I aren’t on the same page.’
“For me personally, the next step is about growth, I want to continue to develop and learn.”
There was already previous reports of Clinton being courted by Manchester City, as United yesterday accepted a bid from their cross town rivals for the midfielder.
As highlighted in another story, the women’s teams of the Manchester rivalry have both swapped players Grace Clinton with Jess Park going to Manchester City.
Though the move is not a player-swap deal, Clinton will leave United whilst Park will join Mark Skinner’s side with the player officially announced on the club website having been a long term player for Manchester City making 119 appearances since 2017.
Whilst there has been lots of interesting transfer activity this summer ahead of the Womens Super League this is definitely one story filled with drama involving both Manchester clubs ahead of Manchester United’s first game against Leicester on Sunday.
