Carrington is a part of what Manchester United is. United have always used the youth and bedded them into the first team when the time is right.
Since October 1937, United have named at least one player who has come through their academy in every first team squad, a remarkable record that isn’t just for show but more so a representation of the Red Devils.
Sekou Kone is a current player in the youth setup who is generating hype and interest after signing for United on August 30th 2024.
Kone has suffered with injuries since joining the club and a match which has now been re-arranged between Manchester United Under-21’s and Tamworth was originally concluded after Kone suffered an injury.
Kone was taken to the hospital as a precaution but has since recovered well. The news is thankfully positive as confirmed on the club’s official website, after Kone had seriously hurt himself damaging his eye socket.
In light of the unfortunate circumstances, tickets for the original fixture are able to be reused for the re-arranged match.
Often players can suffer injuries at an early stage of their career and it can effect the way they play both mentally and physically. Kobbie Mainoo suffered an injury during the 2023 pre-season tour and it derailed the rest of United’s season until the Englishman returned fit and firing.
It feels like Kone’s acquisition was part of INEOS’s strategy to buy more youth as displayed by the signing of Ayden Heaven.
Kone has a lot of hype behind him and with the current midfield conundrum United find themselves in, the hopes are that eventually in his career he can become a mainstay for Manchester United.
For now, the news that the young midfielder is recovering well is definitely a huge positive.
