The 2025 summer transfer window has finally come to an end, seeing a major overhaul in the Manchester United squad.
Ruben Amorim has been heading up the club’s rebuild this summer, having removed unwanted players set to be sold, assigning the “bomb squad” to individual training until they leave, whilst the United recruitment team have been looking on upgrading his current options.
In a bid to help Amorim fight up the table from last Premier League season’s 15th place finish, United have made some major signings, with a combined value of £228.8 million, including add-ons.
Firstly came Diego Leon, who’s transfer had been arranged back in the winter window, however due to being under 18 years old, the left-back had to wait for the summer to be able to move to Old Trafford for the £6 million agreed fee.
However, the first major signing came with Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, seeing United trigger his release clause for £62.5 million, sealing his move to Old Trafford.
Next came Bryan Mbeumo in a lengthy negotiation that finally saw Brentford and United agree to a £71 million move after previously wanting The Red Devils to merely match the fee paid for Cunha.
Completing the attacking remodel, United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for £73.7 million after missing out on signing Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike, replacing Rasmus Hojlund as the club’s first choice striker.
United’s fifth and final arrival then came with their only deadline day signing, goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, finally recruiting a new keeper after disastrous seasons from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
Thankfully The Red Devils have managed to offset some of the spending with their £40 million sale of Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea and Antony’s £20 million sale to Real Betis, denting the blow for an overall net spend of around £168.8 million.
