After being Manchester United’s first acquisition during the summer transfer window, Matheus Cunha is now one of the team’s newest players.

The Brazilian has played in all three of the Red Devils’ Premier League games and the cup game against Grimsby Town.

He was previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He was the Red Devils’ first summer signing and was followed after by Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to shape Ruben Amorim’s new attack.

Cunha picked up an injury in the first half of Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Burnley last weekend.

He immediately asked to come off after his sprint and visibly looked like he pulled his hamstring.

Much discussion has been around the lack of updates on his situation.

Now we can provide a fresh, exclusive update.

CentreDevils can exclusively reveal that Matheus Cunha’s injury isn’t as serious as first feared after initial scans.

The 26-year-old Brazilian did some light upper body gym work today, with the Red Devils agreeing for him to stay and recover in Carrington Training Centre.

The extent and type of injury are not yet known.

The next few days will be key in determining the next steps the club will take with his rehabilitation and the extent of the injury itself.

Cunha was pulled out of the Brazil squad because of the injury too.

The Red Devils will be hoping to have Cunha’s qualities in the Manchester derby, which is in two weeks.

Ruben Amorim took notice of Cunha’s impressive performance at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he established himself as a seasoned Premier League attacker.

The 26-year-old played in 36 games last season, recording 17 goals and six assists, but it wasn’t enough to put Wolves in the top half of the Premier League standings.

Nevertheless, after grabbing 14 goals and dishing out eight assists in 36 games the previous season, it demonstrated his potential to perform consistently in the league.
