Palmeiras have been improving their squad this summer as they aim to improve their table position in the Brazilian Serie A.

Currently, the side sit third in the league but will arguably want to improve this in the coming games.

Therefore, the aim will arguably be that the signings made during the summer will help them to improve.

So far during the summer, the Brazilian outfit have signed four players.

These are Ramon Sosa, Jefte, Khellven and Carlos Miguel. Of these four players, three of them are Brazilian showing the side’s commitment towards recruiting players of a Brazilian nationality.

Now, the team have officially completed their fifth signing of the summer in the form of former Manchester United player Andreas Pereira.

Taking to their website, the side stated the player had signed and had “underwent medical examinations during the week.”

Commenting on the move, Pereira said that “the interest Palmeiras has shown in me has been very special and gratifying.

I thank president Leila Pereira, (football director) Anderson Barros, and (coach) Abel Ferreira for trusting in my work and offering me the opportunity to wear the jersey of such a gigantic club.

I can’t wait to arrive in Brazil to join my new teammates and be on the field to help the team.”

Furthermore, he added that “the affection shown by the Palmeiras fans has been very special” and that he “received countless messages of support that assured me that I made the best decision when I accepted Palmeiras’ offer.”

Previously, Nottingham Forest and Marseille were also said to be in the conversation for the midfielder’s services.

Manchester United sold Andreas Pereira to Fulham for £10m which included a 20% profit clause.

However, he was sold for the same fee to Palmeiras.

Therefore, United will receive no money from this deal.

Pereira will now join up with the rest of the Palmeiras squad.
