Former Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag recently took over at Bayer Leverkusen with the aim of success.

However, since joining the German outfit, the former Ajax manager has only picked up one point from his opening two games including a defeat in his opening game.

Similarly, at his time at United, he picked up zero points from his opening two Premier League games.

But, he did go onto to win four straight Premier League games later that month.

However, as arguably deserved, Ten Hag is receiving criticism for his start to life in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen, which sees them sit 12th in the table.

Arguably, this criticism is deserved following a second place finish in the 2024-25 season and a Bundesliga title in the 2022-23 season.

But, the German outfit have also lost star striker Florian Wirtz who joined Liverpool this summer which may have affected them.

With the former United boss facing a poor start, an update has emerged on his immediate future at the club.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Erik Ten Hag is facing an immediate exit from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Plettenberg has also revealed that no final decision has been made yet.

Furthermore, he has stated that there is no current plan to part ways with the former United boss before the end of deadline day.

Finally, the Sky Sports DE journalist has revealed that Ten Hag is determined to stay and is asking for time to oversee the major rebuild required at the club.

With this news revealed, attention will turn towards Leverkusen’s next game versus Eintracht Frankfurt on the 12th of September.

The result of this game may determine whether the former United boss stays at Bayer Leverkusen or is sacked from his role after just three matchdays in the league.
