Manchester United are on the verge of offloading Rasmus Hojlund, with the Denmark international no longer a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

At the start of the summer, the “bomb squad” was created, with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia all doing individual training away from the senior squad, having no place at Old Trafford going forward.

Whilst Hojlund isn’t a member of the “bomb squad”, he’s equally unwanted at Old Trafford, with the 22-year-old having gone from being first-choice striker to not even on the bench now that Benjamin Sesko has joined the squad from RB Leipzig.

As such, United have been trying to offload the striker, with clubs from Italy keen on signing him due to his successful stint in Serie A with Atalanta.

Over recent days, Napoli have emerged as front-runners, with first-choice striker Romelu Lukaku out injured, needing cover.

Whilst yesterday reports from Italy claimed a deal between Napoli and Manchester United has been verbally agreed, this has now been confirmed by The Athletic.

Lauri Whitwell has reported that a deal has now been agreed for Rasmus Hojlund to join the Serie A champions on a season-long loan with £38 million (€44 million) obligation to buy should the side qualify for Champions League football next season.

The fate of the move now lies in the hands of Hojlund and his camp, with the striker yet to agree personal terms with Napoli amid wanting to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place.

Hojlund has yet to be used this season, yet has still been selected for the Danish national squad in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

However, the striker would need regular first-team football to continue getting national call-up, an opportunity which is now more likely in Italy as opposed to Old Trafford.
