Manchester United have finally managed to offload their unwanted winger Alejandro Garnacho, as the Argentina international is set to move to Chelsea.
Garnacho’s future has been in question for some time now, since the Puskas Award winner had a public falling out with Ruben Amorim, seeing him get dropped from the squad at Old Trafford.
Since returning for pre-season, Garnacho has joined the “bomb squad” in individual training away from the senior squad to prioritise moves away from the club.
The Argentina international has long been linked with Chelsea, as the Premier League side looked to sign him in the winter transfer window, offering Christopher Nkunku to head the other way to Old Trafford.
Whilst nothing came to fruition in January, Chelsea re-started their pursuit this summer, with the London-based side keen to get their man and Garnacho equally keen to move to Stamford Bridge.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the move his famous “here we go”, confirming the deal is all done.
It’s understood that Chelsea are set to pay United £40 million for their winger, and as a product of their youth academy, constitutes as pure profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), further helping the club’s financial struggles.
The winger has reportedly agreed to a seven-year deal, seeing him move to London until 2032.
Ben Jacobs has added to this, expressing that there’s also a 10% sell-on clause built into the deal, seeing The Red Devils further benefit should be move on from Stamford Bridge.
Offloading Alejandro Garnacho marks Manchester United’s first major sale this summer, with Marcus Rashford being their only high-profile departure on a season-long loan to Barcelona.
United will be hoping that the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Antony will be following suit, with Hojlund seemingly set to join Napoli and Real Betis still pushing hard to sign the Brazilian winger.
