Benjamin Sesko’s start to life at Manchester United has been carefully managed by Ruben Amorim.
The striker was introduced gradually, making substitute appearances in the first two Premier League games before being handed a full debut in the Carabao Cup.
His first start was meant to be an opportunity to build rhythm and confidence, but instead it ended in frustration during a 2-2 draw and penalty shootout defeat.
While Sesko did convert from the spot, questions were asked over his position in the order – taking United’s 10th kick, just before goalkeeper Andre Onana.
That decision, along with his lack of influence in open play, quickly became a major talking point in his homeland.

Slovenian outlet Football Mania wrote: “Benjamin Sesko needs time, but he doesn’t have it anymore since yesterday!
“The countdown of minutes played without a goal has begun.”
Ekipa labelled his debut as a “cold shower” and branded his late penalty as “bizarre”, summing up the sense of unease surrounding his first 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, Newspaper 24.ur went further, asking whether Sesko had “made the wrong decision” by joining United, suggesting he may have enjoyed more patience at Newcastle.
They argued that in Tyneside, “the pressure from fans and the football public is much lower, so he would also have much more time to adapt to the new environment.”
Sesko himself will know there is no point dwelling on the night, with a Premier League clash against Burnley looming on Saturday.
Having missed out on a proper pre-season, the forward still needs time to build fitness and cohesion with a newly-formed attack.
Despite the early scrutiny, Sesko will have full belief in his ability to start producing the goods.
Sooner rather than later would be better though, especially now that Amorim is fighting for his job.
