Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabia in late 2022 sparked a wave of high-profile transfers to the Middle East.
Since then, several of Europe’s elite players have chosen to follow a similar path, tempted by the lucrative contracts and long-term projects offered by clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
For some, it has even opened the door to potential reunions with former teammates, rekindling partnerships that once thrived on the European stage.
This summer has been no different, with Saudi sides once again pushing to attract big names still competing at the highest level.
One of those possible reunions has now been rejected.

According to GOAL’s report, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr targeted Casemiro.
But the Manchester United midfielder made it clear that his focus is on staying at Old Trafford until the 2026 World Cup.
The 33-year-old was called up once again by Brazil for the South American qualifiers and remains central to Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, having already become one of the Italian’s trusted lieutenants.
Casemiro’s decision is driven by his ambition to represent Brazil in one final World Cup before considering a move abroad.
He does not rule out joining the Saudi Pro League after 2026 but wants to complete his United contract first, despite having attracted serious interest in January when the club considered recouping part of their initial investment.
The midfielder has since turned his form around under Ruben Amorim, becoming a key figure in United’s setup once more.
His history with Ancelotti also explains why he remains such an important figure for both club and country, with the pair winning multiple major honours together at Real Madrid.
Sections of United fans will certainly take the news of Casemiro’s preference well, especially having also rejected a proposal from Al-Ittihad.
However, many know United’s need to rebuild their midfield once the Brazilian eventually leaves – an area that currently lacks quality and balance.
