Just a few months have passed since Victor Lindelöf’s long stay at Manchester United came to an end.
The Swedish defender spent several years at Old Trafford but never truly developed into the player many had hoped he would when he first arrived from Benfica.
Although dependable in spells, his time at United was defined by inconsistency and constant competition for places, ultimately leading to his release earlier this year.
In the weeks that followed, speculation quickly mounted over his next move, with talk of a possible reunion with Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen, though nothing concrete ever emerged from those links.
Instead, Fiorentina have emerged as the most serious contenders for his signature.
The Serie A club recently made contact and are pushing to finalise terms as they look to strengthen their backline before the window closes.
Negotiations between Fiorentina and Lindelof are said to be progressing positively, with the 31-year-old tempted by the prospect of a new challenge in Italy’s top flight.
However, the Viola are not the only side in the mix.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Premier League club Everton have also approached the former United man and put forward their own proposal.
The Toffees remain keen to bolster their defensive options, and Lindelöf’s experience at both domestic and international level makes him an attractive target.
Should Everton succeed in luring him back to England, Lindelöf would be working under David Moyes.
A familiar name to United supporters given his brief and turbulent spell in charge at Old Trafford more than a decade ago.
That potential reunion of sorts would add an intriguing subplot to what is shaping up to be one of Lindelöf’s most important career decisions yet.
