Over the last few months, the situation surrounding Manchester United’s goalkeepers has been unclear at best.
Whilst Ruben Amorim has seemingly decided to back Andre Onana as his first-choice keeper, with Altay Bayindir as his deputy, the club have been linked to several high-profile shot-stoppers and promising keepers to replace both of the current options in the squad.
Whilst the recent options on the shortlist have included PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens, a range of other targets have also been linked to protecting the goals at Old Trafford.
One man in particular is Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The 23-year-old joined the Italian club from Belgian side Sint-Truiden last summer, and helped Parma avoid relegation in his debut season, with the club finishing 16th in Serie A.
His impressive season with the Italian side drew the attention of not only United, but also Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb about the links, Zion Suzuki commented: “I know there were a lot of rumours about me.”
He continued: “But I’m totally focused on Parma and preparing to start the season well. Parma made me a fantastic offer, so I immediately decided to accept and join this club.
“Last year was an opportunity to grow, and I’m really happy with my choice.”
Discussing his impressive first season with Parma, the Japan international commented: “In the end, we achieved our goal, which was to stay in Serie A.”
He continued: “I’ve grown a lot, and it was a good season. It taught me the importance of preparation, because only if you train well and in a certain way can you perform well.
“First of all, I want to reduce the number of goals conceded, because last season we conceded a lot. That’s my first personal goal, then as a team, we want to raise the bar and not just fight for survival.”
