Manchester United fans have been left far more relaxed about the striker situation following the big-money arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The highly-rated Slovenian is seen as the long-term answer for Ruben Amorim, with his physical profile and goal-scoring pedigree fitting perfectly into United’s attacking rebuild.
But even with fresh firepower being added, departures in that department remain a possibility – and in truth, a necessity – given United’s urgent need to raise funds this summer.
Rasmus Hojlund is regarded as the most likely forward to move on, with Sesko viewed as the brighter project striker under Amorim’s vision.
That said, Joshua Zirkzee’s future isn’t entirely secure either, despite only joining United from Bologna in 2024.

Now, Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad reports that reigning Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven have identified Zirkzee as their ‘dream candidate’ to lead the line this season.
PSV are searching for a replacement for Alassane Plea, who has been sidelined with a serious knee injury until 2026, and see the 24-year-old Dutchman as the ideal fit.
The plan is to tempt Zirkzee with the promise of becoming their first-choice striker – something that could strengthen his bid to make the Netherlands’ 2026 World Cup squad.
PSV are expected to make contact with United in the coming days, initially hoping to explore the option of a loan deal given the high costs involved in a permanent transfer.
Zirkzee’s situation is complicated by the fact he only arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a £36.5m move after an impressive spell at Bologna.
He started brightly, scoring a late winner against Fulham on his debut, but injuries disrupted his momentum.
He went on to finish the season with seven goals and two assists in 49 appearances.
With Sesko now leading the line, PSV believe they can use Zirkzee’s reduced role to their advantage and push for a deal before the transfer deadline on September 1.
However, United’s stance remains that the striker is not for sale, meaning PSV would likely need to stretch their finances considerably to have any chance of success.
