Manchester United’s striker department has undergone a major shake-up this summer.

The arrival of Benjamin Sesko for £73.7million has added fresh competition at Old Trafford.

But it has also placed the future of Rasmus Hojlund under intense scrutiny.

Hojlund, once seen as a long-term spearhead for United’s attack, was left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad entirely for the Premier League opener against Arsenal.

The Dane instead watched the 1-0 defeat from the stands.

That omission was the strongest sign yet that his Old Trafford career may be drawing to a close.

According to Daniele Longo for CalcioMercato on X, AC Milan are preparing a renewed approach for Hojlund.

This time with a specific payment structure designed to tempt United into agreeing a deal.

The Italian side are expected to propose a loan arrangement that includes an obligation to buy for £35million.

Although the clause would only be triggered if certain performance-related goals are achieved this season.

This follows on from their earlier bid, which involved a £4m loan with a £39m option to buy.

United, who signed Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023 for £72m, are now believed to be open to selling him permanently for as little as £30m.

Milan believe their proposed conditions could suit all parties, offering United a sizeable fee while giving Hojlund the opportunity to rebuild in Serie A.

The 22-year-old himself is said to be in favour of a permanent exit should he depart, wanting clarity to focus fully on his next club.

Talks between Milan and United are expected to continue into Monday, with Napoli also monitoring the situation following Romelu Lukaku’s injury.
