Manchester United are continuing to try and rebuild their squad this summer, hoping to make more waves in the two weeks left of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already revitalised their attack with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, now turning their attention to their midfield.

With Christian Eriksen having left the club at the end of his contract, and Casemiro coming to the end of his next summer, United have limited long-term options currently in the middle of the park.

Currently Ruben Amorim has Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro at his disposal, however, with Toby Collyer out on loan and Sekou Kone having fractured his eye, there’s limited back-up options should further injuries strike.

As such, United have been strongly linked with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba as their top target to reinforce the midfield.

However, his £120 million price tag from The Seagulls has put a massive barrier in the way of United’s pursuit of the Cameroon international.

Now, Mundo Deportivo has reported that The Red Devils are turning their attention to Spain, going all out for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume.

The 23-year-old has a release clause of £35 million, making him much more affordable than Carlos Baleba, whilst the Brighton midfielder could still remain on Amorim’s shortlist for future transfer windows.

However, United are still reliant on sales to get any moves for new signings across the line, aiming to permanently offload five members of their senior squad before deadline day.

Moves for Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea and Jadon Sancho to AS Roma are seemingly imminent this summer, which could well generate the funds needed to secure the transfer of Lucien Agoume as yet another part of Amorim’s summer rebuild.
