The 2025/26 Premier League season is now underway, with Manchester United having hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford in their opening fixture.

Throughout the summer, United have been overcoming injuries, with a major concern being for Andre Onana who suffered a hamstring injury at the start of the pre-season.

Thankfully he is set to be back for United’s next match against Fulham, with Lisandro Martinez also recovering well to re-join Ruben Amorim’s back line.

However, The Red Devils experienced a potentially major blow with an injury to rising star Sekou Kone, who suffered a head injury in United Under-21s game against Tamworth.

Just before half-time, Kone collided with a member of the oposition, with the medical team advising him to remain on the floor after he initially got back up.

Unfortunately the injury brought an end to not only his involement in the game but also the fixture as a whole, seeing the match abandoned as he was stretchered off the pitch to receive treatment and be taken to hospital.

Kone was released from hospital early the following morning to recover at home, later being revealed that the impressive teenager has fractured his eye socket.

Now, Simon Stone has reported that Sekou Kone will be wearing a protective mask when playing once he’s returned from injury.

Whilst his return date is yet to be confirmed, United will surely be cautious with his return, as with Toby Collyer out on loan, Kone is one of the next in line to cover the midfield role should Ruben Amorim’s team suffer any significant injuries.

The mask in question, similar to ones worn by the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen will provide more protection for Kone, allowing him to get back to the pitch sooner.
