Manchester United’s academy continues to produce a steady stream of talent – some destined for Old Trafford, others carving out strong careers elsewhere.
Dan Gore, one of several talents, who recently joined Rotherham United on loan.
Another example being Manni Norkett – the former United academy graduate who now finds himself playing for Boston United.
Another one of those to come through the system over the past decade was Jacob Carney, who joined Glenavon.
Now, Ben Woods has become the latest ex-United youngster to make a career-defining move, completing his transfer to Peterborough United from Accrington Stanley, as officially confirmed via Peterborough’s website.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who spent seven years in United’s youth system before moving to Burnley, has signed a four-year contract at the Weston Homes Stadium.
His arrival follows an impressive 2023/24 campaign in League Two, where he claimed three End of Season awards and shared a fourth after excelling for Accrington.
Manager Darren Ferguson described Woods as one of the standout midfielders in the division last season.
“Ben is a player we have been after for quite a while and it has taken us a little longer to get it over the line.
“But I am delighted it is completed now.
“He was one of the best midfielders in the league last season, won multiple awards at the end of the campaign.
“He is another who can play in a variety of different positions.”
Although currently recovering from a hand operation that will keep him sidelined for around three weeks, Ferguson is confident the signing will prove a major boost for the squad over the course of the season.
For Woods, the switch represents the next step in his career.
He explained that a conversation with Ferguson was decisive in his choice.
The midfielder described himself as a box-to-box player but underlined his willingness to play anywhere in the centre of the pitch to help the team.
“I feel it is the right time to make the move and the right club to make the move too.
“I enjoyed my time at Accrington and thank everyone there for giving me the opportunity, but I feel I am ready for the next step-up in my career.
“I would describe myself as a box-to-box player, but I can play anywhere in midfield.”
