Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal earlier in the summer transfer window following a transfer saga to be remembered featuring the Gunners and Manchester United.
The striker, aged 27, could feature against the Red Devils in Arsenal’s opening game of the season at Old Trafford.
If he was to play, he would face his old manager and mentor Ruben Amorim who is currently the manager of United.
But, the Red Devils arguably won’t be focusing on Gyokeres’ inclusion.
Instead, they will be focussing on starting the 2025-26 season successfully and picking up the three points on offer in the game.
With the Swedish international and Ruben Amorim set to face off on opposite sides, more details have been revealed about Gyokeres’ move to Arsenal and the feeling in the United camp about the striker.
According to Daily Mail Sport, suggestions in Portugal had revealed that the 27-year-old’s representation was left ‘hurt’ following the absence of a formal approach from Manchester United.

Furthermore, the publication has also revealed that the feeling internally at Old Trafford was that Gyokeres only wanted Arsenal and any pursuit to try and sign Viktor Gyokeres would be ‘fruitless’.
If the striker had signed for United, it would have meant that Ruben Amorim and the Swedish international would have been working together.
However, a lack of formal approach from the Red Devils meant the prospect of this happening wasn’t high, if even present at all.
Now, with this saga over, Gyokeres will be aiming to get his 2025-26 Premier League campaign off to a successful start with an Arsenal side that arguably will want to improve on their second consecutive 2nd place finish in the Premier League last season.
But, only time will tell in the striker’s pursuit for success in the English top flight.
