Crystal Palace have won the Community Shield, defeating Liverpool in the final.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson was crucial in the shootout, saving penalties from Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott, and Mohamed Salah.
This gave Palace midfielder Justin Devenny the chance to score the winning spot-kick, securing the trophy.
This follows Palace’s first major trophy earlier this year, when they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup.
Henderson came through the United Academy but never fully established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Competing with David de Gea, he gained valuable minutes, mainly in cup fixtures, but couldn’t secure a regular starting spot.
Ultimately, he left the club to seek consistent first-team opportunities elsewhere.
However, Henderson has now found a club that truly values him and he has taken the opportunity with both hands, but Henderson hasn’t forgotten his roots.

After saving a penalty against Liverpool, Henderson tipped his hat to the fans, a gesture warmly received by United supporters, many of whom believe the club should never have let him go.
Known for his gamesmanship, Henderson, a boyhood United fan, would have relished the chance to beat Liverpool in the final.

Meanwhile, United are currently struggling with their goalkeeping situation.
Both Andre Onana and Altar Bayindir struggled last season, and with Onana sidelined through injury, the club is exploring other options.
Senne Lammens was strongly linked earlier in the transfer window, but now PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has emerged as a potential target for Old Trafford.
However, United face the challenge of needing to sell before they can buy.
The club will be hoping to make the right decision regarding their goalkeeper to avoid regretting the departure of Dean Henderson in the future.
