Manchester United are looking likely to have a boost ahead of the start of the Premier League season, as Joshua Zirkzee hints at his imminent return to the pitch.
The United striker moved to Old Trafford last summer from Bologna last summer and has had a rocky first season with The Red Devils.
Throughout the season, Zirkzee made 49 appearances, grabbing only seven goals and three assists after scoring the winner on his debut on the opening game of last year’s season to beat Fulham 1-0.
Unfortunately back in April, Zirkzee was ruled out for the rest of the season due to thigh problems, although he did manage to make a 19-minute cameo in the Europa League final.
Whilst the striker was expected to be back to full form for pre-season training, an unknown knock has ruled him out of the pre-season friendly games, including United’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United in Sweden and their Premier League Summer Series in America, however did make the flight to join the senior side in the States.
Now, the 24-year-old has taken to his social media to hint at a potential return coming soon.
Posting on his social media story, Joshua Zirkzee uploaded an image of him in training with a simple hourglass emoji as a caption.
Hints like this usually come from players teasing their return for upcoming fixtures, with the 2025/26 Premier League season only nine days away as United host Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Whilst Zirkzee’s fellow strike companion, Rasmus Hojlund, is unlikely to be at Old Trafford for the opening fixture, with a move back to Serie A increasingly likely, the Dutch striker has been given a vote of confidence by Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager previously expressed his believe that Zirkzee can continue to develop at Carrington in his system, so would not be offloaded this summer.
