Today Manchester United have unveiled their new Carrington training facility, home to the men’s team, ready for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Red Devils have recently returned from the United States, winning the Premier League Summer Series with victories over West Ham United, Bournemouth and a draw with Everton.
Now their return is marked by two exciting unveilings.
Firstly is the imminent unveiling of Benjamin Sesko as Ruben Amorim’s new striker, with CentreDevils having revealed that the Slovenia international has already completed his medical assessment and signed his contract.
And secondly the opening of the new Carrington facility, a year-long development led by Foster + Partners to turn the United training grounds into a “leading-edge, high-performance training environment designed to inspire collaboration, innovation and excellence” as reported on Manchester United’s official website.
The club have already unveiled a range of images of the new training grounds on their website, however eagle-eyed fans will have noticed a key detail in one of the images.
A photo posted of the Carrington dressing room shows the changing bys allocated to Bruno Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven, Toby Collyer, Altay Bayindir and even Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tom Heaton.
However, among these bays are three unlabelled slots, showing there is further space in the dressing room for other recruitment to the senior squad.
This could be to provide space for further summer signings, with Sesko undoubtedly set to take one of the unclaimed spots, and United linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba.
However, it could also be a potential to see some of the academy graduates in the reserve squad step up to the ranks of the senior team.
The inclusion of bays for Garnacho and Antony are also an interesting feature, however these aren’t likely to be up for long given United’s clear desire to offload the members of the “bomb squad” this summer.
