Christian Eriksen’s departure from Manchester United earlier this summer marked the end of a quiet but notable chapter at Old Trafford.

After three seasons and over 100 appearances in red, the 33-year-old midfielder left as a free agent.

United had signed Eriksen on a free from Brentford in 2022.

Despite flashes of quality, he gradually lost his place amid tactical shifts and fitness concerns.

His best season at United came in his debut season – where he bagged 12 goal contributions in all competitions.

Uncertainty remains over his next move.

Among the more surprising developments was interest from Wrexham – the Championship newcomers co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

That saga, however, has now come to a close, with Eriksen turning down the offer in favour of remaining in a top-flight European league.

Now, according to Daily Mail’s report, Burnley have emerged as the latest club to express interest.

Initial contact has been made over a potential move for the former United playmaker.

The Clarets, who were promoted alongside Leeds United last season, are keen to build a squad capable of avoiding another instant relegation.

Eriksen is seen as a high-calibre addition, boasting top-flight title wins across the Netherlands, Italy, and England, and valuable experience at both club and international level.

He also has offers from Turkey – including a potential reunion with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

While interest from Spain and Germany remains active.

However, Eriksen’s preference is to stay in western Europe, with his agent Martin Schoots reaffirming: “Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition.

“There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.”

Burnley have already spent over £60 million on eight new players this summer.

Eriksen may well become the next piece of their Premier League rebuild.
