Manchester United’s summer window has been marked by a blend of marquee additions and long-term planning.

But behind the scenes, United have been pushing to identify elite emerging talent, particularly from Europe and West Africa.
Among those on the radar is 18-year-old striker Idrissa Gueye.
United have been tracking him closely after his impressive breakout with Metz.
With scouts tipping him as one of Africa’s next major exports, United had joined clubs like Borussia Dortmund in showing concrete interest.
Now, as per Footmercato’s report, West Ham United have entered into talks to sign Idrissa Gueye – attempting to beat the Red Devils to the €15m-rated forward.
The Hammers are reportedly desperate to get the deal done and see the Senegal international as a long-term investment to bolster their attack.
Gueye scored five goals in just 17 appearances last season and has already made his senior debut for Senegal, earning praise for his physical presence and movement in the final third.
With West Ham able to offer more immediate minutes, they are viewed as an appealing stepping stone for the teenager’s Premier League ambitions.
For United, Gueye may face a tougher pathway into the first team.
Especially with Benjamin Sesko’s arrival from RB Leipzig now nearing completion.
While no formal offer has yet been lodged by United, the club have not ruled out making a late move.
A potential signing which very much depends on how talks between Metz and West Ham progress in the coming days.
Metz are open to a sale but want clubs to meet their valuation – meaning the next few weeks will be decisive for Gueye’s future.
